The Story

How to get a business running?

In the case of Promotional Elements it started with a run. Ok, it actually took a few runs. Like many of us, Steve Whigham and Mike Seifried used running to relieve stress. For Steve it was an unhappy place of employment. For Mike it was travel and the pressure caused by endless business trips. Steve and Mike decided to run together on occasions.

During one run it was a goal oriented Steve who suggested they compete in the Carlisle Duathlon. "Piece of cake," thought Mike. Unable to complete the duathlon Mike conceded that in order to do one again it would take more training. Steve admired Mike's determination, but more importantly could see that he didn't shy away from a challenge.

The runs continued.

Then, after one particularly rough week, while running Mike suggested Steve go out on his own. Steve wasn't comfortable going solo so in turn asked Mike if he'd like to be a partner. Another challenge thought Mike.

Steve and Mike understood now that it would take careful training if they were going to enter the promotional company race. It did.

It began with many late nights of meticulous work. It ended with Steve leaving his employer and Mike working behind the scenes. After a few months, because of his great relationships with his clients and suppliers, Steve got Promotional Elements up and running. Mike left his employer and with encouragement joined the tempo set by Steve.

Over the years Promotional Elements has gradually picked up the pace to where it is today.
